Shaleen Malhotra “Samjhe Ya Samjhaun?”- Arjun of Arjun – Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek
Shaleen Malhotra plays the rebel with a cause cop Arjun in Arjun- Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek. He shuns conventions, is unorthodox and break rules in the line of duty. Some might ask how is he allowed to do this? Does ensuring justice means that he employs every means at his disposal to achieve it? One can debate on that. However, one this is for sure, one does need an Arjun in today’s world; be in Police, Special Force or even the “aam aadmi” or common man.
Perhaps when asked to Shaleen or the creator of Arjun, i.e. Gorky if Arjun was like Shaleen or vice versa, one might get a reply as Shaleen has aptly coined, “Kuch toh Chhoot raha hai…” Shaleen up front does not seem like Arjun at all. There are too many dissimilarities. But when you really get to it we find an overlap. We find a lot of Arjun in Shaleen and Shaleen in Arjun.
Okay, so we don’t see Arjun smiling and Shaleen has one ready whenever you meet him, any time of the day or night. But then Arjun perhaps has a reason to lose his smile and hopefully, Shaleen shall never lose his. On digging a little deeper, yes we also put on the hat of a sleuth and look for clues, we find similarities.
The way Shaleen has his one liners for one thing. Now to be quick witted, one needs to think fast and Arjun as we all know is a quick thinker. He gives you solutions that are out of box but he might just nonchalantly say, “That’s obvious!” Shaleen is disciplined but Arjun may not seem so however, without discipline can one really solve the cases that he does? The more we see Arjun now, one definitely feels, yes Shaleen is Arjun. Is it because Shaleen has grown on us? Not really, it is the inherent qualities that the character and the actor have.
One of them that sticks out like a sore thumb is the difference of Arjun being a loner and Shaleen the fun loving person. However, was Arjun always a loner? Did circumstances in his life make him so? Will we as audience ever find out what makes Arjun tick? For that, one will have to watch the show Arjun- Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek (Saturday-Sunday) at 8pm on Star Plus and take the journey into what lies beneath the aloof and bereft man.
But to know Shaleen Malhotra better, just keep watching this space as we will bring to you a complete profile shortly.
